Fellow Boxcar Veterans, Time is drawing near for all reservations for the reunion to be made. The deadline for reservations is July 25th. The sooner you can make them the better since I need a general headcount to finalize the tours and dinner arrangements. For those of you that enjoy using the internet, here are a couple of local web sites where you can check up on what's going on in Savannah as well as opbtaining a current weather briefing for you trip. www.wtoctv.com This site also has sky cams that may show some interesting local shots of downtown or Tybee Island. www.savannahnow.com This site includes a current schedule of events in and around Savannah. As all of the past attendees know, we will vote on the location of next year's reunion during the reunion in Savannah. I am happy to report that I have heard from Al Stratton who has graciously "offered" to host the next reunion in Las Vegas. Al has indicated he will not be in Savannah since he wil be moving to Las Vegas during this time. I have received communications that we will have some very special attendees in Savannah who will be among the "first timers" at this reunion. The "over on the boat" and Fort Benning bunch will know them well. Additionally, we have invited Mr. Steve Maxner, Oral Historian, from Texas Tech University to attend. Steve is involved with preserving and archiving historical data related to the war in Southeast Asia. Their web site for this project can be found at: I have placed an ad about our reunion in the Chicago Tribune. This is a free service as I suspect it is in many of the nations major newspapers. If any of you out there want to help locate more of the former members of the 178th, take out a military reunion ad about the 178th's reunion in a major newspaper near you. This may be the only way to make some of our former members aware of this association and regain contact with them.
See you in Savannah,
