REUNION PLANS

Plans for reunion activities are firming up. We will be visiting the Naval Aviation Museum aboard NAS Pensacola on Wednesday, the 24th. First on the agenda at the museum is a group photo in the museum atrium. The photo is scheduled for 9:00 and will be done by a professional photographer who specializes in this kind of group photo.

After the photo shoot we'll be free to tour the museum and watch the Blue Angels in rehearsal with an autograph session to follow.

Guided tours of the museum are available if you wish to tour as a group. The museum has offered us a special rate for its IMAX theatre for those who may be interested. During our return to the hotel, we will stop at the "Wall South" (a replica of the Vietnam Memorial) for a brief ceremony. Our business meeting will get started at 4:30 after returning to the hotel.

If you can't stay long, try to make your plans to be here on Wednesday, the 24th.

I can make arrangements for a trolley for transportation to the museum if there are enough of you who would like to make the trip that way. From the hotel to the museum is about a half-hour drive each way through downtown Pensacola. (Not to mention the toll bridge and the hassle of station security if your car isn't DOD registered.)

One of the highlights of making these arrangements for the reunion that Caroline and I both have enjoyed is checking out all the restaurants on the island. You'll see the "fruits" of that labor still wrapped around my middle. There's great food here!

Directions to the hotel:
From Interstate 10: Take Interstate 110 south (the only way you can go from I-10) all the way to the south end - about six miles. At the end of I-110 take Gregory Street/U.S. Highway 98 East to cross the Bay Bridge. Stay on U.S. 98 through Gulf Breeze about 1 1/4 miles from the Bay Bridge until you see the Las Vegas-style sign pointing the way to the right to Pensacola Beach. After crossing the Bob Sikes Bridge (a $1.00 toll) go through the traffic light and the hotel is on the right.

From the airport:
Since there are several ways to get out of airport parking, be sure to ask how to exit onto Airport Blvd. From Airport Blvd turn left onto 9th Ave, about 1/2 mile after leaving the airport. go south on 9th Ave for about 4 miles to Gregory St./U.S. Highway 98. Turn left (East) to cross the Bay Bridge.

IF YOU NEED A RIDE FROM THE AIRPORT: Let me know a few days ahead if you can and I'll make arrangements to pick you up.

I'm looking forward to seeing you all here!

Complete agenda for Setember 21-22-23 is still in the works, and will be available when you arrive at the Reunion; Wednesday the 24th, the last full day of the Reunion, will be a very busy one, culminated by the meeting, where next year's site will be decided. See you in six weeks.
